Education is not the filling of a bucket, but the lighting of a fire. -W.B. Yeats

Young learners need a deeply rooted foundation of learning. Children are like sponges absorbing with their minds almost everything they encounter. As a teacher, I want to play a very important role in the acquisition of the children's cognitive skills necessary for academic competence. I have the desire to develop their literacy skills and to prepare them to meet their personal needs. I want to create a learning environment for them that is rich in information and experiences which will have a great effect on their development - physically, emotionally, psychologically, and intellectually.

As a kindergarten teacher, I want to develop among my little students the love for learning and school.  I want to give the kids the opportunity to socialize and to learn and also to practice respect and good citizenship. I need to understand that a child is a unique individual. One child may comprehend easily and the other child may need help to gain understanding and literacy. But the most important is, each individual has his/her own strength/strengths and his own level of intelligence. I should try also to know the method of learning and how my students process information they receive. I should know their learning styles, and to do this, I have to observe closely my students, and to adapt my instructions to their needs.

As a teacher, I believe in the saying, “Nothing you do for the children is ever wasted. They seem not to notice us, hovering, averting our eyes, and they seldom offer thanks, but what we do for them is never wasted”.
