Projects
Projects bring learning to life for students. As these projects are for the students, all work including writing, craftsmanship, and presentation must be students’ work. I encourage parents to assist by providing their child with accurate resources at the library, websites, as well as, listening to their child practice presenting, coaching (as needed) and encouraging your child to do their very best. Throughout the school year, there will be an array of different projects.

For the month of February students will complete a File Folder Report. This report will be done on a famous African American that your child has previously picked during class. Your child has been given a biography worksheet on their famous person and will use this information to complete their File Folder Report. Children should also research any additional information needed to complete the report. File folders (Manila Folders) can be purchased at any drug store or shopping center.
Please follow the File Folder Report Guidelines as it is presented in the following pages. The children will turn in their File Folder Reports to me on Wednesday, March 3, 2010. In addition to their File Folder Reports, students will make their biographies come ALIVE in a “Living Museum”. In the living museum, students will take on the role of their particular person. They will talk in the first person and share information about their life. They will create a costume in class that is significant of their personality. The Living Museum will take place at 8:30 A.M. on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in the school gym.
