Computer/Technology Skills proficiency is not an end in itself, but lays a foundation for lifelong learning. Building on the foundation created during the elementary computer program, middle school students will continue to build and refine their computer and technology skills to become better communicators, organized learners and better problem solvers.

- Using search strategy with two or more criteria in a database
- Increasing productivity and accuracy in keyboarding
- Using word processing, spreadsheet, database, and multimedia for assignments in all subject areas
- Locating and retrieving information using telecommunications
- Evaluating resources and information for accuracy and usefulness
- Selecting and using a variety of technology tools
- Students use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:
Computer classes at the middle school level are designed to learn basic computer skills that will provide a good foundation for living and working in the information age. The emphasis will be on basic computer skills, problem solving, and reading/following directions.
- 7th grade will study keyboarding, Internet safety, intermediate Word/Excel/PowerPoint, cross curriculum subject lessons, computer ethics, and will focus on time management and goals. Students will also have the opportunity to experience economics. This year the 7th grade class will study basic accounting and economics as well as earning and spending
- .8th grade will study keyboarding, Internet safety, advanced Word/Excel/PowerPoint, cross curriculum subject lessons, research skills, online and computer ethics, and will focus on careers. Students will also have the opportunity to experience economics. This year the 8th grade class will study intermediate accounting and economics as well as saving, investing, and careers.
