CHARTER SCHOOL 

4TH GRADE REQUIREMENTS

Purpose:

The objective of the 4th grade requirements is to prepare students for academic success on the California Standards Test and success in future grades. All fourth grade students must complete the requirements for Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies in order to graduate to the next grade.

 

Implementation:

*LANGUAGE ARTS:

          *Reading: Complete all reading tests and activities assigned by the teacher in the California reading book.

          *Book Report: Read 8 assigned chapter books and complete a monthly book report project based on the reading. Students must keep a weekly reading log.

          *Vocabulary: Know definitions and spelling of weekly grade level word lists and be able to write them in sentences and determine meaning with context clues. Define Greek and Latin roots.

*MATH: Complete all activities in the California Math student book. Master division and multiplication facts from 0-12. Master multi-digit multiplication and division.

*SCIENCE: Complete three science projects, which will include two at home projects (one for the science fair) and an in class assigned project.

*SOCIAL STUDIES: Complete a report on a famous African or Latino American, a California mission, and a Native American group. 

*Students are to complete holiday packets consisting of review work. Packets must be returned to the classroom teacher on the due date.

Behavior Expectations: Fourth grade students are required to follow all classroom and school rules set by the teacher and as outlined in the Student Handbook. Teachers will provide reports to parents of students who experience difficulty in behavior expectations.

Parents will be made aware of student progress through weekly grade reports and when tests are sent home for review. 

Room 209 Classroom Rules

 

  1. Help your classmates when they are having a bad day.
  2. Make sure your classroom is clean.
  3. Don’t have a tantrum with the teacher.
  4. Keep your hands, feet and all objects to yourself al all times.
  5. Listen & pay attention to whoever is talking.
  6. Treat people the way you want to be treated.
  7. Think before you act or talk.
  8. Always get to school on time.
  9. Raise your hand when you want to speak.
  10. Come to school in appropriate dress, and with all your supplies.
  11. Don’t bring toys or electronics to school.
  12. Encourage others instead of laughing at times.
  13.  Use the restroom your own time.
  14.  Do all your homework and class work & bring it to school.
  15.  Watch your language and volume.
  16.  Always tell the truth.
  17.  Never give up.
